Uni Sushi

I walked in and looked down the bar, imagining someone way cool drinking a cosmo while filling out a sushi sheet. Instead, I saw a bar full of locals chit chatting and having a blast. They welcomed me into their group of greatness right away! How exciting.

I don’t really think it is normal how happy Uni Sushi makes me feel. I came in for “Sunday Funday.” The menu offers different items at a lower price, but once I saw the regular menu, I couldn’t look at anything else.

It isn’t really fair to judge management over one manager. Cough… cough… cough. This manager, as much as I adore Uni Sushi, is getting a Double Wow.

There’s nothing like a manager sending out the GM’s business card, via bartender, to inform me I am not worthy of a stroll through the kitchen to deliver it himself. I asked to speak with a manager and the response was this: A card of a person not in the building. I knew this manager was on his way to Wouchville within half an hour of arriving.

So, the manager finally creeps his way out of the office after almost two hours and leans against the hostess stand. It’s totally okay to blow me off, really, I mean it.

I did a mini polite wave and he noticed…amazing. He came over and I realized this was the textbook definition of a lost cause. Therefore, this is where my Uni Sushi manager story ends. Sniffle.

The bartender saved the day. He was incredibly kind and helpful. His recommendations were all delicious. Everything I ordered were suggestions from him. One of the most personable bartenders I’ve ever met.

The Lobster & Shrimp Rolls are INCREDIBLE! I can hardly stand it. Lobster, shrimp, crab, chives & cream cheese are rolled in an eggroll skin & fried. The rolls are served with jalapeno puree & tempura sauce.

I went back three times in one week! I even googled lobster rolls around Houston and have a list of places I will be visiting. Whew.

The Shrimp Tempura Roll at Uni Sushi is only $4.00 on the “Sunday Funday” menu! Everything about this selection is fresh & flavorful. The portion is generous for the price.

The Shaggy Dog consists of shrimp tempura with cucumbers inside, covered with kani kama, spicy pepper paste & Japanese mayo. I can’t explain how exciting it was to eat this. It does look like a shaggy dog. Yes, it does.

The Don consists of crab and avocado inside, whitefish on top, baked with caviar cream sauce & drizzled with ponzu sauce. This citrus-based topping accents the caviar cream sauce beautifully!

Look at these guys, working together to make Uni Sushi a quality dining experience. They even sent over oranges… transformed into a bunny rabbit masterpiece. Double Heart!

Let us repress this person, the imposter, the man impersonating…the manager. It just can’t be true. Uni Sushi is just too wonderful.

FIVE: High 5!
FOUR: Please & Thank You
THREE: Yada
TWO: Double Wow
ONE: Wow + Ouch = Wouch
