Tommy Bahama’s Tropical Cafe

Being from around Myrtle Beach, I have known about Tommy Bahama’s… the clothing store. It wasn’t until a few months ago that I realized the Tommy Bahama’s location in Texas has a restaurant in the building as well.

Tommy Bahama’s Tropical Cafe is a great place to meet for happy hour, as well as a nice dinner. I have been several times for happy hour and it is perfect, with low lighting, cozy bar stools, and successful clientele relaxing with a drink. Super busy…and the GM from 1252 Tapas pops in occasionally…which makes me very happy. Pause…

A fabulous restaurant indeed. The atmosphere is one of the best in the Woodlands. Large pictures cover the walls, with a musician playing music in the corner of the bar near the entrance. Not too loud, just one more plus to enjoying your experience.

The bartenders are awesome, especially Garrett. You can expect superb service no matter how busy they are. The view of the kitchen from the bar is open and refreshing. The décor, as well as the tropical shirts worn by the staff, give you a feeling of being at the beach or on an island.

A guy sitting beside me at the bar with a 1987 Motorola cell phone would rank highly with all close talkers of America. Although some patrons might enjoy the casual divorce and bankruptcy story, um, I knew it was time to make a quick escape to the patio as he spilled his drink on the bar. This guy gets a Double Customer Wow.

I dined on the patio and couldn’t have been happier. The weather on the patio felt great, reminding me of a breezy porch in Pawleys Island, South Carolina. With lots of beautiful plants and a cozy background, it brought everything completely together.

The Big Island Goat Cheese consists of warm macadamia nut encrusted goat cheese, served with mango salsa, Tommy’s flatbread, and a sweet soy glaze.

The Loki-Loki Tuna Poke consists of fresh ahi tuna, soy & sesame oil layered with freshly made guacamole, served with Tommy’s flatbread & tortilla strips. Complete quality ahi tuna makes this appetizer a must.

The Cabo Fish Tacos consist of blackened white fish, blended corn & flour tortillas, pico de gallo, chipotle aioli & Asian slaw. This is hands down my favorite. Fabulous!

The Antigua Quesadilla consists of asparagus spears, spiced monterey jack cheese & goat cheese inside flour tortillas, topped with tomato jam, lime sour cream, and queso fresca.

During my last visit, the Executive Chef, Brian Miner, shared details about several items on the menu. How exciting! His pick of items to highlight were excellent. The presentation of each item was spectacular, as well as tasting out of this world!

Tommy Bahama’s Tropical Cafe is exquisite. The food, service, and atmosphere are precise in every way.
