Café Express

Café Express is always a pleasant experience. The food is healthy & light, which feels great. The focus is on the food, not the service. It’s up to you to order at the counter, pick up your condiments, and refill your drink at leisure.

The atmosphere at Café Express reminds me of going to lunch on a Sunday after church when I was a little girl. It is always busy with families spending time together. Houston has a slight snobbish feel at times, depending on the neighborhood.

Café Express has free Wi-Fi. The only stipulation is… quoting the cashier… “You have to click that button that says Café Express isn’t responsible for you going to any of those nasty websites while you are in this building.” Alrighty then. Thanks for the heads up.

I always order the Tuna Salad Sandwich when I visit Café Express. I love it! The tuna salad with basil & celery is served on wheat berry bread, with iceberg lettuce, mayonaise, and Roma tomatoes. I like to add pecans & melted cheddar cheese to my tuna salad sandwich! Double Please & Thank You.

During lunch last week, I decided to try the Homemade Creamy New Potato Soup. The soup consists of fresh hearty chunks of new potatoes, diced carrots, onions, and celery. The cream based soup is rich, topped with green onions, cheddar cheese, and crumbled bacon. I asked for…no bacon.

During my next visit, I decided to start with an appetizer. The Shrimp Campeche with Avocado & Chipotle Sauce is served with Mexican cocktail sauce, steamed shrimp, and tortilla chips.

For my entrée, I ordered the Pasta Capri. This linguini pasta is served with shrimp & sautéed spinach with creamy roasted tomato sauce, topped with fresh grated parmesan.

Café Express is consistently a great restaurant. The atmosphere & food are always enjoyable.

FIVE: High 5!

  1. Just stumbled upon Almost Veggie Houston and I love it! I am moving to the area next month and this is SO helpful 🙂

  2. I do like Cafe Express– but until they offer up their nutritional information for the food– how are we supposed to be informed eaters? Something can taste “light and fresh” but may have ingredients that are not.
