The Capital Grille’s Lobster Roll

The Capital Grille is a man’s world kind of place, so the food must be great. Please do not walk into The Capital Grille if you are a single gold digger looking for a man. All of the important manly businessmen having important manly business lunches do not have time for this.

Anyone loving a lobster roll has their own almighty opinion about how it should be prepared. Being a complete and total lobster roll expert, it’s simple to say the best have the least amount of fluff possible. Nobody needs a salad to be attached to the title of their lobster roll. The best example is TJ’s Seafood Market, who easily has the best lobster roll in Dallas. The only thing any other restaurant can do is attempt to come in second place. Sorry, not sorry.

The Capital Grille’s deal during lunch is soup or salad, a main dish, and a side for $18. After seeing “fresh lobster in a creamy salad” on the menu, I asked the server for details. She asked which I liked more– salad or no salad. She then said the kitchen has no problem preparing the lobster roll without scaring anyone with creamy salad. She made it sound like they do it all the time, so this is luckily not a special order.

They were out of the soup offered, so the server suggested lobster bisque instead. There was a mystery $3 up charge in the end, which hurt my feelings. I decided to move on with my life and forget about the shocking out-of-soup up charge. Besides, the server was extra nice, even delivering the lobster roll with warm butter and a side of cold mayonnaise. The Capital Grille is a fancy restaurant that’s somewhat affordable during lunch.
