Cosme

cosmealmostveggiescomLocated in the Flatiron District of New York City, Cosme is in the same neighborhood as none other than Eleven Madison Park. This information must excite everyone. To not be excited would mean the person who isn’t excited probably never becomes excited about anything, which is a dining downer. Cosme’s cuisine is contemporary Mexican and has been brought to life by executive chef Enrique Olvera, along with his incredible team creating in the kitchen.

While executive chef Enrique Olvera is a superstar chef with accolades galore, there’s someone else we are giving props to today. Her name is Daniela Soto-Innes and she is chef de cuisine at Cosme. We first met years ago around the Houston restaurant scene and she isn’t a person anyone is likely to forget. Not only is she an amazingly talented chef, she’s like a Mexican goddess with gorgeous locks of  long brunette glory. We are facebook friends, so I have seen her hair in lots of pictures. Believe me when I say there is nothing wrong with her hair– ever. This chef has got it going on in every way possible. Kind, attractive, talented, living the dream cheffing in New York City– She is the bomb from start to finish, people.

Looking at what Daniela has accomplished is incredible, especially at such a young age. Her talent has been noticed by Star Chefs in New York City, who chose her as one of the city’s Rising Star Chefs this year.  It didn’t end there, with Eater also recognizing her talent by naming her an Eater Young Gun semifinalist. Raise the roof.

Daniela became interested in cooking in Mexico at a young age and obviously never stopped chasing her dream. She worked with executive chef Danny Trace at Brennan’s in Houston early on, as well as with executive chef Mark Cox of Mark’s. Daniela has also worked with one of the most respected chefs in Texas, James Beard Award winner Chris Shepherd of Underbelly, who just so happened to be having dinner at Cosme the exact same night we were. What. Are. The. Odds. On the way out we decided to frighten Chris Shepherd as he peacefully enjoyed his dinner by saying… hello.

The food being delivered at Cosme is invigorating and, almost equally important, the service is top-notch. Walking in without a plan made the experience that much more fun. Going with the flow was the right thing to do and– nothing disappointed. It was an honor to eat dinner at a restaurant where chef de cuisine Daniela Soto-Innes is a part of the team.
