Snap Kitchen

Chills occurred upon entering this healthy holy land we call… Snap Kitchen. A concept so green & healthy, its brilliance is precisely what Houstonians need. A sudden spastic urge forced my enthusiasm to be shared with the… manager. After speaking of the glorious goose bumps consuming my body, he was pleased, wasting no time getting this party started.

To say this place is modern, simply isn’t enough. Beyond modern, the green décor screams… shrieks… belts out… hip global ecstasy like a fat lady at the opera. When I say your belly morphs into a six pack upon entry, fact has been spoken. To make this be green concept clear, the atmosphere speaks volumes.

Just how eco-friendly is this place? Snap earned a 2-Star Green Restaurant Certification from the GRA. Snap’s website states, “We’ve met the GRA’s strict standards on water efficiency, waste reduction and recycling, sustainable décor and building materials, energy efficiency, chemical and pollution reduction, and the use of sustainable foods.”

The premise of Snap is to make chef prepared healthy snacks & meals easily accessible. All items are packaged and provide complete nutritional information. Local organic ingredients are used (almost always), without the use of unwanted additives or hormones.

Owner, Martin Berson, also has two Snap Kitchen locations in Austin, with the Houston location being relatively new. Has anyone given this man a hug today? Is there a street named after him in Texas? Is his appreciation meter on overload? Make it happen, people.

Snap’s concept isn’t all together new. My Fit Foods is similar, but this maniacal manager said… not so fast. The big incentive to call Snap your kitchen, is the oh so ready… Registered Dietitian. Waiting to answer questions, as well as help set up a plan of action, this dietitian will consult your needs away… Um, cough, it is $75 an hour though…

On the road to gluten-free glory, take a whirl at the three week program… Snap Commit. Meet for a consultation with the Registered Dietitian or nutritionist with skills, who will then take the necessary steps with food selection, thus leading to skinny jean seeker success.

On this journey, be prepared to follow Snap’s nutrition philosophy… “To help our customers eat good food that’s as close to the source as possible. It’s a simple concept that attempts to limit the prepackaged, processed, and globe-trotted foods in favor of fresh vegetables, fruits, and local ingredients whenever possible.”

Snap provides a delivery system in which pre-ordered meals are sashayed out to your car on a whim. Pre-order online or make a call. If delivery is your preference, Snap will travel up to 15 miles, requiring a minimum purchase of $25. Snap hearts advance ordering.

Chefs scurry around the kitchen, preparing endless meals for health conscious consumers. Meeting professional chef in the making, Brittney Richards, is an honor. She became ecstatic at the very thought of turning the packaged items into sassy plates for AVH. Her clever presentation gives a clear indication of what lies beneath the heavenly containers of health.
