Sea Breeze invited writers to have lunch recently in Plano. It’s not Plano’s fault everyone doesn’t live in Plano. Each non-Plano person must drive to Plano to feel complete Sea Breeze joy. Trust is what needs to happen immediately. They have a real fish market inside the restaurant, which should excite seafood people across Texas. It doesn’t get any fresher than a fresh fish market in front of your face. Frozen? No way. Old and scary smelling? Not a chance. Ask the owner to talk about his business– please. Walk over and ask him what is up with Sea Breeze Fish Market and all its freshness. He will happily explain the history, as well as the passion that’s gone into building his business from past to present. Sea Breeze is all about maintaining the highest level of quality in food and service.
The owner’s son is a real mixologist. Having completed zero research about what makes a bartender morph into a mixologist, it’s still simple to assume he’s reached this drink-making level. After reading the list of drinks he’s developed for all of Plano to enjoy, he could probably get a job at Anvil if he lived in Houston. He has that kind of bartending ability.
Everyone should already know not only about the clam chowder at Sea Breeze, but the lobster roll as well. The kitchen is slinging loads of delicious seafood all over the Sea Breeze building. There is absolutely no bacon used to create this probably award-winning clam chowder creation. When I asked the owner why he doesn’t use bacon to enhance the flavor, well, he said he doesn’t need to. Come again? This is a great answer. So many restaurants use bacon fat to make clam chowder or top it with bacon. If only this recipe was available to public clam chowder lovers who do not eat bacon, then the world would be a better place.
If Sea Breeze hasn’t already been honored with a prestigious clam chowder award, then someone is unfairly giving clam chowder awards to the wrong restaurants. Since Almost Veggies will probably be honored with some kind of James Beard Award for massive caliber writing skills, it seems fair to go ahead and give Sea Breeze the first ever Almost Veggies Clam Chowder Award. It is what James Beard would want us to do. Congratulations & have a nice day.
Different people like lobster rolls prepared different ways. There’s the lobster “salad” kind of roll that is usually a deal-breaker for those who love to see only lobster on the roll, served hot with butter or cold with mayo. Sea Breeze is one place that goes the lobster “salad” route, but still leaves a feeling of having eaten mostly lobster. Please, do not be confused. Take a look at the lobster roll at Neptune Oyster in Boston. I triple dog dare everyone on the internet to look at—> this.
Before an entire lobster roll was placed on the table, there was a different plate with a lobster roll divided into mini pieces. This divided lobster roll was sitting on the table longer than it should. After already eating one piece, my mind became locked in a mini-lobster-roll trance. Why was there still a bite left to eat? Had the other food writers eaten a bite already? Who is going in for the kill? After waiting as long as possibly possible, it seemed like eating the last bite was the only option.
Maybe no one noticed the last mini lobster roll bite because there was a gigantic salmon burger sitting on the table. This salmon burger was confusing at first since one writer specifically asked that this salmon burger be brought to the table. Does this make the extremely large salmon burger her salmon burger? I just had to get my hands on this burger or else my iPhone was going to explode. The lighting was better at the other table, so I grabbed the plate and decided to stop over-analyzing the possession of the burger. Please, let me know if anyone wants to hear the above written salmon burger story again. Onward…
Just when it seemed like a regular tasting, all of a sudden— salmon deviled eggs. Please & thanks ten-thousand times. Being a deviled egg lover didn’t mean these particular deviled eggs were going to be the bomb. I mean, salmon can sometimes be shady when becoming a part of the deviled egg process. Luckily, life was grand after tasting it. And how about Sriracha mayo, people? It all worked out.
While stuffing my face with loads of seafood, it became clear that the market part of the room doesn’t have to exist to feel the extreme sense of freshness in every dish delivered. We have lunch and dinner at Sea Breeze all the time and will happily keep driving to Plano for continued seafood joy.
