Woodshed Smokehouse

Tim Love having lunch with me was like a lunch-with-Tim-Love accident. My friend is a very important radio host who seems to think inviting me to radio tapings is the right thing to do. He almost always includes me during chef interviews in Houston, Dallas, and Fort Worth. Please be excited because even though I didn’t have cash to pay the forced valet guy out front, this interview was worth the agony of wondering if I’d ever get out of forced valet that day.

Tim Love was sitting at the bar when we arrived. I knew he had been on a few chef television shows, even though I don’t watch television. The impression from my first impression was as serious as an impression gets. With barely a single word heard, we sat down in the dining room.

I quickly noticed Tim Love’s Ray-Bans sitting beside my left hand. I kept thinking Tim Love probably doesn’t even like it when his wife touches his Ray-Bans, much less some food blogger crashing his lunching environment and then touching his orange glasses of sunlight-blocking glory.

Since I usually take secret invasion-of-privacy chef pictures while John records radio, these sunglasses became– picture priority. While this may seem unimportant from a journalistic point of view, when this is how I feel, it must be the right thing to do.

Exciting Facts About Chef Tim Love:

1. He has twins.

2. He has a degree in business/finance.

3. He has a boatload of businesses besides Woodshed Smokehouse.

4. Even though his t-shirt is form-fitting at the highest level, he does not get sweat pits.

5. He never once missed a shift for five years straight after opening Lonesome Dove.

Tim Love is rich, smart, and fit. I have a feeling he secretly has more money than Dean Fearing and Stephan Pyles combined. He has a business brain, while appearing grounded with a strong opinion about chefs being given praise too early in their careers. I would be surprised to ever see Tim Love slinging food with pretend hotshots after seeing the face his face made while discussing pretend hotshots. He is way above the chef-hype type.

Chef Tim Love took his savings, which wasn’t much at the time, and poured every bit of his being into making his passion for cooking a success. He never expected fluff from anyone in the beginning and still doesn’t. He was more interested in having the impeccable work ethic he earned while paying his dues. Having a degree in money-making must have made him that much more successful. More importantly, I’m convinced his t-shirts are made to order from a person making t-shirts exclusively for rich people.

This chef likes dogs so much he has a dog menu. I’m thinking all tails wag a little faster while eating the rawhide bone dipped in pit master fat. The menu even offers a peanut butter bone. Every dog likes this. Please do not bring your cat. This makes all dogs sad.
