Our Signature Cocktail Series continued recently at the newest 1252 Tapas location at Uptown Park in Houston. Typically, using the word spastic is reserved for truly spastic moments. Maybe it’s been overused in the past because only now have I witnessed complete and total service industry employee spasticness.

Soon after experiencing this manager mind boggle, um, came the bartender. Starring in our cocktail video, this guy’s spunk surpassed happiness well above explosive. What’s the deal? There wasn’t a bad mood for miles. If all restaurants could execute such splendor, Texas would have the lowest blood pressure rate in America.

In case you’re wondering what the manager was excited about more than life, well, it’s the 1252 Signature Box Lunch option on the menu. As long as dining is during lunch, this box of lunch joy is available. At times I felt the need to think deeper than just basic deep about how great this box lunch option could really be. This guy almost squeaked out a tear during the description.

Begin by choosing a main dish, soup, salad and side…

shrimp sautéed with garlic & olive oil

fresh cucumber, red pepper, onion, & tomato soup, served cold

mixed greens, cucumbers, tomatoes & almonds

sautéed spinach
There’s definitely much more to the menu. 1252’s tapas menu is excellent at The Woodlands location, so it must rock & roll at Uptown Park as well. It just makes sense. Happy Hour is happy— really. They offer tons of food and cheap drinks Monday – Friday from 4 – 7 pm. Like!

manchego cheese accompanied with quince jelly

catalán style vanilla custard

valencia orange filled with mango sorbet

warm chocolate cake served with fresh
strawberries & vanilla ice cream
The best choice to make is ordering 1252’s dessert sampler. My favorite is the chocolate cake with strawberries and ice cream. Usually dessert talk is last, but not this time. Goat cheese was an added extra gift before lunch even began and definitely deserves its very own finale.

walnuts, dried figs & honey
For me, goat cheese is disgusting. I start thinking about a goat chomping down on grass somewhere in a scary field. This same goat is hanging out with other gross goats with funny looking goat horns— just eating. For this reason, goat cheese is rarely ever eaten. Cheese coming from a goat just isn’t mentally working out for me.
John and I couldn’t believe this turned out to be a non-frightening dish of goat cheese delish! It’s better than the goat cheese we had at Rainbow Lodge, which is a clear menu win. 1252 Tapas has got it going on. Everyone involved knows how to get the job done, sending out quality food and excellent service with a smile— every time.
