Coal Burger

Refreshing is the feeling felt during a recent visit to Coal Burger. This restaurant professes a hardcore commitment to using all things natural. You will not catch them sticking one single solitary hormone inside their beef, much less raising these soon to be burgers on anything but a grassy green pasture. Expect top notch produce as well, for they also maintain seasonal sensations as a part of all products.

Coal Burger’s menu is high upon the wall and lists choices for the non burger eaters. Coal has one burger option for almost veggies, as well as a variety of salads. All to do is figure it out and share with the girl perched at the counter.

This particular girl, of mysterious bodily movement, clasped her hands together at the register and raised them limberly above her head. Without warning, her arms made it all the way back down, as low as human hands aren’t supposed to go.

The front of her body was shaped like a table. This was no ordinary yawn or semi casual stretch. This move is reserved for benders being found on some secret Direct TV channel or maybe a production of cirque de soleil in Vegas. This is not an exaggeration. Request this stretch before buying a burger. It’s like front row at the circus.

There really isn’t any service to be had in terms of feeling an actual service industry worker want. Pick a seat and slap your number in a sensible spot. Minus food delivery, it’s all on the customer. That’s it. Drinks, silver, napkins, refills, and yada are all the customer’s responsibility.

Believe me, the vibe is so super healthy, it forces people to want to get their own refill, or maybe even jog over to the drink area. Just try and feel fat in this fitness filled arena of health.

The Coal Burger Salad is prepared using romaine with a mixture of blue cheese, grapes, tomatoes, red onions, roasted pepitas and bacon. I asked for… no bacon. Most exciting of all ~ hard boiled eggs are thrown on top. The chef’s suggestion for dressing is  balsamic vinaigrette or buttermilk ranch.

Roasted pepitas have a glorious taste which brought this salad together in the very best way. They even gave extras in our to-go box.

So many veggie burgers are disappointingly dry & miserable, existing so a burger joint has one thing to muffle the non meat eating complainers. Coal Burger is not included in this category. No way.

Everything about this veggie burger brought rainbows & sunshine to this table. Served on a whole wheat bun, this not even close to dried out veggie burger is topped with roasted red peppers, avocado, and bibb lettuce. Hallelujah.

The saddest carcass joke to ever go wrong flashed before our eyes. Fear encountered was that this was not a veggie burger at all, but instead, the dreaded rare flesh of a cow. Fear not, it was just the appearance of an inner ingredient mingle. All quickly became well in the world once again. Whew.

Although not craving a bacon infused, grass-fed Kobe beef burger on a brioche bun, um, it was still exciting to unlock the flame broiled badge on foursquare during check-in. Like!

Slurping down a mixed berry gelato on the patio felt relaxingly spectacular! Yay. Yay. Yay. If Coal Burger is trying to send fantastic feelings of green, they definitely succeed. Every part of this place, inside and out, feels vibrantly healthy. It takes some of us a little longer to belly up to a place titled Burger anything, but Coal Burger was definitely worth the wait.
